Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Former Phillie Rod Barajas clobbered his former club with a grand slam and a solo home run as Toronto downed Philadelphia, 6-3, in the second of a three-game interleague set at Citizens Bank Park.
Barajas, who spent last season with Philadelphia, provided most of the offense for the Blue Jays, who have won five of their last six. A.J. Burnett (4-4) got the win as he was charged with two runs on four hits with three walks and eight strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings of work.
Jimmy Rollins went 3-for-5 with two RBI while Greg Dobbs had two hits, an RBI and a run scored for the Phillies, who have lost four of their last seven games. Adam Eaton (0-2) was charged with the loss for giving up four runs on eight hits in five innings of work.
Toronto threatened in the first as Scott Rolen punched a double down the left field line and Joe Inglett attempted to score from first, but Rollins grabbed Pat Burrell's throw and nailed Inglett at the plate for the final out of the inning.
However, the Blue Jays did get on the board in the second as they got their first three batters on base and Barajas ripped a 2-1 pitch into the right field stands for a 4-0 lead.
The Phils loaded the bases in the third inning, but it was with two outs and Chase Utley grounded out to first to end the frame.
Philly got on the board in the fifth as Geoff Jenkins hit a two-out single and Dobbs followed with a double to deep center that allowed Jenkins to charge home and make it a 4-1 game.
The Phils made it a one-run game in the seventh. With runners at first and second, Rollins roped a double into right field that brought home Dobbs and Shane Victorino to make it a 4-3 contest.
Toronto, though, got the runs back in the ninth. Barajas led off the frame with a shot into the left field stands. Aaron Hill then beat out an infield single, stole second and scored when Hector Luna hit a grounder to short that Rollins fielded cleanly, but Ryan Howard was unable to handle the throw and Hill crossed the plate for a 6-3 lead.
B.J. Ryan worked around a two-out double to Rollins in the ninth to pick up his eighth save of the season. Game Notes
