DeWitt's HR helps Dodgers beat Angels

Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Blake DeWitt hit a two-run homer to lift the Dodgers to a 6-3 win over the Angels in the second of a three-game interleague set.

Russell Martin went 3-for-4 with an RBI while Andre Ethier and Luis Maza each drove in a run for the Dodgers, who have won three of their last four games.

Chan Ho Park got the start, but lasted only four innings and gave up two runs -- one earned -- on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Hong-Chih Kuo (3-1) got the win as he pitched four scoreless innings, giving up three hits while striking out four.

"They're an aggressive fastball team and we tried to take the aggressiveness away from them," said Martin. "Kuo comes out of the bullpen and throws 95 and then he throws off-speed for strikes. If I have a tough time catching him, he has to be tough to hit."

Garret Anderson went 3-for-4 with a run scored while Ervin Santana (6-1) suffered his first loss of the season as he was charged with four runs on five hits in six innings for the Angels, who have dropped three of four.

The Dodgers took the lead in the second as Andruw Jones drew a two-out walk and DeWitt followed with a blast over the right field wall for a 2-0 lead.

"I'm just trying to help the team win," said DeWitt. "I knew Ervin had good stuff so I was looking for a good fastball early in the count. I feel relaxed out there. I've been given a great opportunity and I'm just having fun."

In the third inning, the Dodgers increased their lead with a pair of runs. Chin-Lung Hu led off with a walk and Juan Pierre was then plunked with a pitch. Ethier then belted a single to left that scored Hu and Martin then beat out an infield single to plate Pierre for a 4-0 lead.

The Angels cut their deficit in half in the fourth. With runners on first and third and one out, Casey Kotchman reached base on a James Loney error and Vladimir Guerrero crossed the plate. Maicer Izturis then hit into a fielder's choice that scored Anderson to make it a 4-2 game.

With runners on first and third and one out in the seventh, Martin was caught in a run down, but he was able to keep it going long enough for Pierre to cross the plate and make it a 5-2 contest.

In the eighth, the Dodgers made it a 6-2 game on Maza's RBI single to left that scored DeWitt.

Erick Aybar's two-out, infield single in the ninth scored Juan Rivera to cut the Angels' deficit to three runs, but Takashi Saito got Reggie Willits to fly out and Gary Matthews Jr. on a ground ball to end the game. Game Notes
