Oakland's Casilla placed on DL

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - The Oakland Athletics placed right-handed pitcher Santiago Casilla on the 15-day disabled list Friday with soreness in his right elbow.

Casilla, who was forced out of Thursday's game against Cleveland after allowing a home run to Jhonny Peralta, went 2-0 with an 0.93 earned run average and one save in 21 relief appearances this season.

To fill the roster spot, the club recalled infielder Gregorio Petit from Triple-A Sacramento. Petit hit .304 with 15 runs batted in over 37 games for the River Cats, and sported a .448 average with runners in scoring position.
