Giants ink lineman Seubert to extension

East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - The New York Giants signed starting left guard Rich Seubert to a three-year contract extension, the club announced Tuesday. The deal runs through the 2012 season.

Seubert, who will turn 29 on Sunday, has spent the past seven seasons with the Giants after signing as a free agent in 2001. He already had received one contract extension, for four years, in 2003.

"It's awesome," Seubert said. "The Giants have been really good to me over the years and it is just good to know where I am going to be. I am going into my eighth season, so this is five more years. It is a dream come true to play out your career with one team and for it to be the New York Giants."

Seubert started all 16 games in the 2007 season, in helping New York to the Super Bowl title, after a handful of tumultuous years. He missed most of the 2003 season, and all of the 2004 campaign, while recovering from a broken leg.

He played in 28 games the next two seasons, but started just four times. But by last season Seubert regained his starting role.

"I look at the last seven years and it has been a blast. The ups and downs and knowing that I am going to be on here now for a few more years - you never think it is going to happen but it did and it has been great," Seubert said.
